A song for every state…Why is Julie writing a song for each state? Two reasons. Number one – it’s a fun creative challenge, somewhere in the midst of going state by state, to try to learn enough about a state then somehow find the time to put all that into a song before moving onto the next state! And number two -Julie is proud and tremendously grateful for this country that raised her and in which she gets to live and be a part. She hopes to create at least a token of her appreciation and that a bit of that love can come through these little odes to each of our United States of America.
Two important things to keep in mind.
One – Julie is not a professional musician. These recordings are meant just to give you a sense of the song. Perhaps someday they will get proper musical treatment and production.
Two – Each of these songs is meant in the spirit of respect and appreciation. Of course, having only spent a handful of days in each state, Julie humbly recognizes she cannot possibly know what it is like to live in the state and that she may have mischaracterized the state and its history or left out important components. If there are any glaring errors, please feel free to (kindly, if possible) inform her of what she got wrong. Please know that each of these songs is meant with the utmost of respect.
